The company’s name is derived from the names of John Hood’s parents, M.L. "Tinker" & Marie Hood.
The proud legacy established by Tinker and Marie is evident in the company’s logo which is a sawmill blade surrounding a baseball, paying homage to Tinker’s love of baseball and acknowledging J.L. Hood Lumber Co., the sawmill founded by Tinker’s father, and John’s namesake, John L. Hood.
